About

The first memory with music that I can recall was when I was 5 years old. My family and I was moving into our new home on a Navy base in Yokosuka, Japan. As my parents were unpacking boxes, my father, who has a strong appreciation for music like I do, hooked up the stereo to the receiver and put on one of his CDs. I remembered hearing the elegant sound of the saxophone echoing throughout our living room, which carried through the hallway and into my room. I was drawn by the music and slowly went out into the living room. When I found out that the sound came from there stereo, I looked at it aimlessly trying to figure out who's playing the music. My father noticed my curiousity and told me that I was listening to artist by the name of Kenny G. I didn't know who Kenny G, but all I could remembered was how I felt when I heard the song, which I found out later it was titled "Forever In Love". That song was the first imprint in my growing appreciation for music.

Growing up music has always been a big part of my life. Everywhere I went I always had my CD player (this was before the iPod) with me and with my earphones in my ear. As I was growing up, my fascination with music continued to grow. Even to the point where I began collecting a wide range of CD's and cassettes from a variety of artists (now I collect vinyl records). I'm always interested in hearing news about new artists and new music that is waiting to be discovered by my ears. Perhaps the reason why I love music so much is because of it's ability to connect with the special moments in their life. It can be a song that recalls a time when one meets their first love, a time when a couple shared their first dance or even a memory of hanging out with some friends. I also love the fact that music can uplift and inspire people. One song can bring joy to the listener and for a moment, help them forget their troubles and worries. These are some of the beautiful things about music.
I was in college when I began to write about music in 2006. I had a Myspace account at the time and I used to post about albums I enjoy listening, my favorite upcoming artists and of course, my Cream of the Crop lists. In 2009, I started this blog Future Phonograph. The name is a combination with of my fascination with the musical device and the anticipation what is the come for the evolution of music. This blog serves as a vessel for me share my love for music and to talk about some of my favorite artists and albums. I also inform my readers some of new music that is waiting to be listened to.

The blog has changed these past 4 years, but the philosophy remains the same. Music is waiting to be discovered. All we need to is listen.

Thank you for reading Future Phonograph.
