MCA Overcomes Cancer

Good news from the Beastie Boys front. According to the Toronto Sun, Adam Yauch, aka MCA from the legendary hip-hop group has been cleared by doctors is now cancer free.

In 2009, the Beastie Boys were in the process of recording their new record entitled Hot Sauce Committee. The record was going to be divided into two parts with the first part to be released in the later part of the year while the second part the following year. According to them, it would be their most bizarre work to date. However, on  July 20th, 2009, Yauch announced that he was diagnosed with cancer in the parotid gland and lymph node and will be undergoing surgery and radiation treatment. All plans for touring and promoting the new album were put on hold to support MCA and his family. After more than 18 months of recovery, he was giving the clear by his doctors.

Since then, Yauch has adopted a vegan lifestyle while incorporating the use of ancient Chinese medicine in his regimen. He has said that he feels healthy, strong and hopeful. The trio plans to release the Part II of the Hot Sauce Committee on time (Spring 2011) while Part I may be release sometime after.
Future Phonograph is very happy to hear Adam Yauch's recovery over his illness. We extend our best wishes of good health and happiness to him, his family and the rest of the Beastie Boys family.
